BNE: Production of Electrical Energy in Albania 43.9% Lower in 2011

The production of electrical energy in Albania decreased in the first five months of 2011. According to Albania's Central Bank, the production of electrical energy decreased by 43.9% in this period, mainly as a result of a decrease in production in the country's major hydropower plants.

On the other hand, production of energy from private hydropower plants increased by 10.9% on a yearly basis. The decline in production was also reflected in a decrease in export of energy in 2011 compared to last year, daily Metropol reports.
